Q & A with Taylor LaShae
When did your curiosity for space begin and why the fascination?
Honestly, for as long as I can remember. It's funny I grew up in Houston where they have mission control at NASA and all the kid's parents were astronauts and scientists. I remember going to their homes and asking them so many questions...What I love most about space is the infinite possibilities in question. I suppose I'm fascinated by the mystery of what else is could be out there. #spacenerd.
If given the opportunity to live on Mars knowing you could never come back, would you?
Oh, I don't think so…No way! I don't think I can be isolated with several people for that long, let alone travel for a long period of time. I'm too much of a nostalgic person to let go of all the things on our little blue planet...
As a lover of space, if NASA hired you to be on the team, what would be the dream job?
Funny you ask that question. A lot of the people I went to high school ended up working for NASA. Some landed jobs being a tour guide or photographers at the end of the tour. LOL. It's really funny every time I think about it, which I do an awful lot...I think I would be an astrophysicist or in charge of designing the space station.
What's an ultimate date with Neil deGrasse Tyson look like?
I literally had a dream about this! I don't think we would go on a "date" per se because he is definitely married. I would love to do a road trip from coast to coast hitting up all of the observatories and during the drive, pick his brain about certain things like dark matter and his favorite sci-fi movies. To end the date on on a high note, we would go to a star party! It's a gathering of people who love astronomy and they set up their telescopes to gaze at the stars. A big group of people camp out with ice cream, loads of mint chocolate chip ice cream.
What inspires you as of late?
My whole life I hated the color orange. I'm not really sure why, but I've been really inspired to wear that color lately for some reason. I guess it's fun and new. Yeah, that's that.
If you weren’t modeling or acting, what would be the next best thing?
(I'll let you in on a little secret) Ever since I was 16, I've been an agent for modeling agencies. I even moved to New York at 19 and killed it there and I loved it! So, the next best thing would be a manager or an agent again. I would never want to own an agency, it’s only for fun. And surprise! Guess what? I'm really good at it too!
What’s the top few favorite songs on your playlist?
Chanel - Frank Ocean
Style of denim that describes you best?
(skinny, flare, boyfriend, etc.)
My go-to's are high-waisted, cropped wide leg but not too wide. Preferably in color black. My second option is a good ripped up boyfriend jean.
One thing people don't know about you that you wished they knew?
I don't travel as much as I want to…Maybe because I hate flying. I'm the girl who passes out before the plane takes off and changes her position a million times. I have a phobia of scuba diving or just the ocean in general. I change 23 times a day, which leads to the fact that my room is constantly messy. So I'm constantly cleaning my room. I literally can’t ground myself if my room is not clean because I have a weird fixation with it being perfect. Lastly, I'm the type of person that without a doubt will stop on the side of the road to help an animal in need.
What's in the works for 2017?
I mean, so far so good. There are lots of things I have been doing and so much that has yet to come out. Festivals to go to, new countries to travel, people to see, things to do. All I know is that it will be an exciting year, I can tell you that much.
